The new association held a constitutional meeting on January 22 to deepen cooperation with EU agencies and establish a positive industry-wide relationship across the European chemical recovery value chain to promote the recovery of specific polymers.

A statement issued on March 19 by the European Association of Plastic Processors (EuPC) said the move was in response to the "high expectations" of EU politicians for the plastic industry to abide by the principle of circular economy.

Carlos Monreal, chief executive of Plastic Energy Corporation and the first president of the New Association, said: "Now is a good time to strengthen opportunities for chemical recycling in Europe so that the plastic industry can achieve a comprehensive cycle."

Chemical Recycling Europe A Conference on chemical recycling will also be held in Brussels on 4 June to involve all companies in the entire value chain.
