PC/ABS alloy has excellent comprehensive properties. Although PC has certain flame retardancy (LOI = 25%), the flame retardancy of PC decreases after blending with ABS. In order to meet the application of PC/ABS alloy in the fields of electronics, electrical switches and electrical appliances, flame retardants must be added. Commonly used flame retardants in commercial PC/ABS alloys are brominated flame retardants, such as brominated epoxy resin, brominated polycarbonate, brominated polystyrene, Decabrominated diphenylethane, and phosphate flame retardants. For example, TPP, RDP, BAPP; phosphorus-bromide flame retardants, such as tris (2,4-dibromophenyl phosphate), the trade name is KroitePB-460. Their flame retardant PC/ABS alloys have their own characteristics.



The flame retardants used in flame retardant PC/ABS alloys were compared. The results show that when the mass ratio of PC/ABS is 7:3, the flame retardancy of the material can reach UL-94V-0 (1.6nun) by adding about l3% brominated flame retardant of flame retardant PC/ABS alloy. Because of the poor flame retardant effect of phosphate flame retardant on ABS, only when the mass fraction of PC in the material is more than 70%, can the flame retardant effect be achieved: Bromine-phosphate flame retardant is used, even in the material. When the mass fraction of PC is 50%, it can also reach uL-94V-O grade (1.6mm). It shows that phosphorus and bromine have synergistic effect in PC/ABS alloy. Phosphate ester flame retardant and bromine flame retardant are used together in flame retardant PC/ABS alloy. Similar effects have been achieved.
